8 Lies You Keep Telling Yourself (and the truth that will set you free)

Satan is the father of lies. He knows your weaknesses and your insecurities, and he uses them against you in a million different ways. As he is constantly whispering lies into your ear, it can be hard to hear the Voice of Truth.

Below is a resource to help you call out the lies in your head and replace them with truths found in Scripture. Jesus wants to set you free. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As a child of the One True King, the father of lies has no power over you.

Satan’s Lie

God’s Truth

Bible Verse

I am unlovable.

You are loved beyond measure.

“Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39

The mistakes I’ve made can’t be forgiven.

You are 100% forgiven.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Psalm 103:12

I don’t matter.

You are God’s chosen, special possession.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9

I am alone.

I am never alone.

“God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”

Hebrews 13:5

I am worse than everyone else.

Everyone is tempted and makes mistakes.

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.”

1 Corinthians 10:13

There is no hope for me.

God is overflowing with hope for you.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

I am broken beyond repair.

God is making you new.

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Revelation 21:5

I’m worthless.

You are worth dying for.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

May our hearts be able to pray the words of Lauren Daigle's song You Say:

“The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me. In You I find my worth. In You I find my identity.”

Joyfully in Jesus,
