Being a single mom means juggling a million things at once. Between being a personal Uber driver for your kids, work, making sure bellies are full, keeping the house afloat, and trying to find a moment for yourself, it can feel like you’re running a marathon every day. But remember, you’ve got a secret weapon: God’s got your back! Here are some practical tips to help you balance it all and still find time to take care of YOU.
1. Start with Jesus Time
Begin your day with a quick prayer. It’s like morning coffee for the soul. Even a few seconds or minutes of quiet with Jesus can set the tone for a calmer, more peace-filled day.
2. Self-Care Isn’t Selfish
Think of self-care as recharging your mom batteries. You wouldn’t let your phone die, right? Take a short walk, listen to an audiobook, or enjoy a bubble bath. Your well-being is important to God - you’re allowed to have it be important to you!
3. Lean on Your Church Family
Ask for help. Your church community is here to support you, whether it’s through prayer, a small group, someone to sit with your family during worship, or just a listening ear. We’re all in this together!
4. Delegate, Delegate, Delegate
Get the kiddos involved with chores. It’s a win-win: you get help around the house, and they learn responsibility. Plus, you can sneak in a little “team-building” fun.
5. Look for small reasons to be thankful
Notice or write down at least one little blessing each day. Maybe it’s your child’s laughter, a beautiful sunset, or a quiet moment with a cup of coffee. Saying “thanks” is a proven mood booster.
Balancing everything is no small feat, but you don’t have to do it alone. At Charis Center for Christian Counseling, we’re here to support you with counseling and a community that cares. With God’s help, you’ve got this!
Stay strong, Mamas!
Joyfully in Jesus,
